Twenty Questions: Joanna of A Stylish Love Story

Hello everyone!

It’s time for another round of “twenty questions”. If you aren’t familiar with how it works: each week, I feature a blogger, model, designer, fashion figure, etc., and ask them 20 questions in an effort to get to know them better, and share my findings with all of you.

This week, I’m honored to introduce you to fashion blogger Joanna and her blog, A Stylish Love Story. She has such beautiful style, and I’m so thrilled to introduce her to you all. Let’s get to know her better, shall we?

Q1. What’s a typical day like for you?

I work full time in an office far, far away, so I make a strong delicious cup of coffee every morning with heavy whipping cream and honey, feed my little fur baby, and then I’m off to the freeway to sit in traffic for about an hour. On my daily commute, I usually flip through several radio stations and enjoy listening to new music on KCRW. My day is super busy. I go to the gym after work a few times a week, then drive home, eat dinner, and try to decompress via blogging, watching movies, hanging out with my boyfriend, and drinking wine. Usually, I am super exhausted from my schedule, so I try to get as much sleep as I can.

Q2. When did you first become interested in fashion?

I was about five years old, I think. I would run around in my backyard with hot pink and red material that my mom had left out for her stage backdrops and tie it into capes and togos. My great grandmother had passed a few years later when I was about seven years old. She left me some of her pretty lace and embroidered vintage slips and hand sewn clothes from the 30’s and 40’s. She was a fascinating woman, and I remember wanting to feel close to her, so I played dress up in her old slips and jewelry. I had never seen such beautiful details on clothes before, and that’s when I knew I was instantly in love. That’s also how I came to love vintage clothing.

Q3. What are your favorite sources to keep up with what’s going on in the fashion world?

I follow Rachel Zoe, Style.com, Who What Wear, Vogue, and read a ton of style blogs.

Q4. Any fashion/beauty trends you’re currently obsessed with?

Ethereal boho, flared leg pants, 60’s, 70’s, and 90’s style everything, dark lipsticks

Q5. Any trends you’d love to try out?

Dark lipstick and different styles of denim.

Insta Red Green Animal Ruffle

Q6. Any trends you’re not really a fan of?

Off the shoulder for both shoulders. I prefer asymmetrical off the shoulder pieces, because I think it looks more flattering.

Q7. How would you describe your personal style?

Feminine, romantic, classic and eclectic.

Q8. What inspires your daily style?

My mood.

Q9. What are some things in your wardrobe that you would NEVER give up?

Heirloom pieces from my family and vintage dresses.

Q10. Where do you like to shop?

Literally, everywhere from online shops, to small boutiques, Etsy, and large department stores. I also enjoy scouting out pieces at flea markets, consignment, and thrift stores.

Q11. What do you notice first about another person’s outfit?

Q12. Who/what are some of your favorite designers?

Q13. If money were no object, what would you buy?

A house.

Q14. What’s the best deal you’ve ever scored on something?

A Christian Dior Bag for an unspeakable price.

Q15. What’s currently your favorite fragrance?

Q16. What color are you currently obsessed with?

Q17. Outside of fashion, what do you enjoy doing for fun?

Q18. What’s your dream job?

I would love to a job where I can help people and also create and design at the same time.

Q19. What’s one thing about you most people don’t know?

  1. I actually just stumbled upon Joanna’s blog today and her latest post directed me here; she shared how she was featured on your blog for an interview. I was so excited, of course, to know that her and I both know and follow you (the blogosphere is actually quite small). Since I just discovered her today, this was such a great post to get to know her! I love her style, so chic, and I love her use of colors and patterns (you know how much I love color!). I thought it was pretty cool that she inherited all of those vintage pieces that are not only unique in their designs and quality, but hold a sentimental value, too! We both share much of the same love for the current trends; I’m all for ’60s and ’70s anything and the ’90s just mainly brings back a ton of amazing memories for me, so of course I love it! Thanks so much for sharing, Terry, and I hope you’re having a wonderful day!

    XO,
